Senior Researcher Dr Ebrima Sonko expressed his dissatisfaction with the yield output of the onion trials at the Bulock demonstration site compared to the harvest of the beneficiary women in the garden. ‘As scientists we don’t have failures, we study such challenges and proffer solutions for our women. We will recommend the best conservation practices for these women to adopt for their future horticultural practices.’ He also returned gratitude to project funder BMBF and collaborators WASCAL for the continued support.
Farmer Amie Kujabie who harvested the highest kilograms of onion at the Bulock garden thanked project staff for their support and the development partners for the life-long changing initiative. ‘ We never thought of having such an irrigation system that will ease gardening for us in this garden. Now, I can boost having a sustainable harvest because water is no longer a challenge for us,’ She said.
