The project is relevant for three main reasons. Firstly, it will highlight the fundamental points
on land use and management, based on the available literature and documents, since it
concentrates on deepening insights into unregulated land use in The Gambia, especially
around the large urban centers of the country. Secondly, the feasibility study will examine the
links between population, climate change and land use in The Gambia. Finally, the study will
provide recommendations for policy-making, to foster a sustainable governance of land use
and management.
The project data will be shared with the WASCAL Data Discovery Portal and the WASCAL
Data Centre (WADI), thus being fully available to be used for prompt access, sharing, and
dissemination in the West African region. Thanks to WADI, project data and related information will be available to a wide range of users, across the region.
